Article 1 Purpose: To encourage students of this University to pursue both academic achievement and character development, to actively participate in student clubs, school affairs, and community service, and to foster an optimistic, cooperative, and service-oriented outlook on life, these Directions are hereby established.
Article 2 Eligibility:
- Groups or individuals applying for this scholarship must be members of student clubs, self-governing organizations, or volunteer groups under the guidance of this University.
- Awards received in connection with athletic competitions shall be submitted separately under the University’s Athletic Achievement Scholarship.
- Each group or individual may apply for this scholarship only once per academic year, and only with the result of a single competition.
Article 3 Types of Awards:
- Outstanding Performance Scholarship: Students (groups or individuals) who, in the given academic year, participate in nationwide competitions organized by the government or commissioned by the government and place within the top six in group or individual events are eligible. (Where a group ranking is calculated by aggregating individual scores, only one type of award may be applied for.)
For group competitions with twelve or more participating teams (inclusive), awards are granted down to sixth place; with six to eleven teams (inclusive), awards are granted down to fourth place; with five teams or fewer (inclusive), awards are granted down to third place. The same rules shall apply to individual events.
- Service Excellence Scholarship: This scholarship is divided into Group and Individual categories.
(1) Group: In the given academic year, groups that cooperate with the University to provide services in community or on-campus activities on at least five occasions and demonstrate outstanding performance.
(2) Individual: Students whose academic average in the preceding semester is at least 75 points, whose conduct grade is at least 80 points, and who are still enrolled at this University.
(3) Where a group has applied for the Group Service Excellence category, no more than two of its members may apply for the Individual Service Excellence category. However, this restriction does not apply if the content of the individual application is not of the same nature as that of the group application.
Article 4 Amounts of Scholarship Awards: This scholarship is awarded once per academic year. For group awards, the amount ranges from NT$4,000 to NT$12,000. For individual awards, the amount ranges from NT$1,000 to NT$6,000.
Article 5 Application Procedures:
1. Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria set forth in Article 2 of these Directions shall, in early April each year, prepare the following documents and submit their application by the deadline announced by the Extracurricular Activities Section of the Office of Student Affairs:
(1) Outstanding Performance Scholarship: One copy of the application form and documentary proof of competition results.
(2) Service Excellence Scholarship:
- Group: One copy of the application form and relevant documents evidencing outstanding service performance.
- Individual: One copy of the application form, relevant documents evidencing outstanding service performance, one photocopy of the Five-Education Passport, and one photocopy of the transcript for the preceding semester.
2. The dates of the outstanding performance or service achievements indicated in the application documents shall fall within one year prior to the announcement date for the academic year concerned.
Article 6 Upon preliminary review by the student-group advisory units, the applications for this scholarship shall be compiled by the Extracurricular Activities Section and submitted to the Scholarship Review Committee for Excellence in Extracurricular Performance for evaluation. The list of awardees shall then be announced. The Committee shall be convened by the Dean of Student Affairs, and the Secretary of the Office of Student Affairs together with the heads of all sections under the Office of Student Affairs shall serve as ex officio members.
Article 7 The funds required for this scholarship shall be disbursed from the University’s “Student Public Funds and Incentives – Scholarship for Excellence in Extracurricular Performance.”
Article 8 These Directions shall be promulgated and implemented after approval by the Office Affairs Meeting of the Office of Student Affairs.
